FAQs
Why Soy?
Soy wax is a natural product made from soybeans, whereas paraffin wax comes from petroleum. Soy wax provides a cleaner burn and does not produce potentially harmful by-products. It is also a completely renewable resource.
My soy candle has a white discoloration—why?
This is called "frosting" and naturally occurs with soy candles. It does not affect the candle's burn or scent.
How long can I burn my soy candle?
Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Burning longer can cause carbon buildup on the wick, leading to a larger flame, an overheated vessel, and a potential fire hazard.
How do I care for my soy candle?
Trim your wick to 1/4" before each use to ensure an even burn. Always read the warning label on your candle.
How is soy wax made?
Soy wax is made from the oil of soybeans through hydrogenation. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, and de-husked before being rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted and hydrogenated, altering its melting point to remain solid at room temperature. The leftover husks are commonly used as animal feed.
CANDLE MAKING EXPERIENCE
How many people can I book for a candle making experience?
The maximum is 8 people per session. In some cases, we may be able to accommodate a 9th person at the candle bar.
Can I bring my own vessel/jar?
No. We test our jars with our available scents to ensure proper wick size and burn quality. Outside vessels have not been tested and are not allowed.
How much does the candle making experience cost?
Our standard vessels are $32 per candle. We also offer a selection of upgraded vessels in the Studio, including handmade concrete vessels. Prices for upgraded vessels range from $34 to $54.
What should I expect during the candle making experience?
Your experience will last about 45-60 minutes. You’ll choose a fragrance, mix your wax and oils, and pour your candle. Candles take about 2 hours to set, so we recommend exploring the local area or returning later to pick up your candle if time allows. Same day pick-up is not available for candles poured within 2-hours of closing.
What are the age requirements?
The candle making experience is recommended for anyone 8 years and older. Children 10 and under must be supervised by an adult.
Can I bring wine or food?
The Studio is BYOB, but food is not allowed.
Can I hold a date and time without a deposit?
A deposit is required to secure your booking.
Can I have a private candle making experience?
To book a private session, you must reserve and pay for all 8 spots. The retail section of the Studio remains open during private events unless an event is held outside of normal Studio hours.
Do I need a reservation, or can I walk in?
Reservations are highly recommended, especially for groups. Walk-ins are welcome based on availability.
How long does it take for my candle to be ready?
Candles take approximately 2 hours to cool and set. We offer shipping for an additional fee. Most locals pick up their candles on a different day.
