ALL ABOUT SOY
Soy wax is a natural product produced from the soy bean. In comparison, paraffin is made from petroleum oil. Soy wax candles provide a cleaner burn and do not produce potentially harmful by-products. It is also a completely renewable resource.
My soy candle has a white discoloration, why?
This is called "frosting" and naturally occurs with soy candles. This frosting does not affect the candle's burn or scent.
How long can I burn my soy candle?
We recommend to not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Our candles are tested based on a 4-hour burn time.
How do I care for my soy candle?
Just be sure to trim your wick prior to each use. You should try the wick down to 1/4" before each use. This helps your candle burn more evenly.
How is soy wax made?
Soy wax is made from the oil of soybeans through the process of hydrogenation. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, and de-husked. Afterwards, the beans are rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated.
The hydrogenation process alters the melting point of the wax and allows it be solid at room temperature. The leftover bean husks are commonly used as animal feed.
